Seven Solid Years is a song only heard on the 1987 Demo recording. It features Jekyll's disbelief and frustration that all his work has amounted to nothing. parts of it were reworked into Jekyll and Utterson's conversation after the board of governors rejects his proposal in later versions.

JEKYLL:
Seven solid years I've worked, for nothing
All because a bunch of dunderheaded fools don't understand me
Who are they to judge what I am doing?
They know nothing of the endless possibilities I see

It's ludicrous I'm bound by their decision
Seems vision is a word they've never heard
If it mattered less I'd treat it with derision
It's absurd!

And yet the fact remains
Those bastards hold the reins...
